Parting with belongings…

We have been helping my folks sort through and get rid a bunch of stuff they have collected over the years My parents tend to collect anything and everything whether they need it or not. My father does not smoke but this hasn’t stopped him from buying half a dozen cigar boxes. My mother, on the other hand, has kept every piece of clothing she has ever owned. She also seems to have felt the need to buy every stool she comes across at garage sales and discount stores. I am not sure what a person does with twenty different stools, but my mother believes they are necessary. My task has been to encourage them to part with the things they don’t need and only keep what they really are going to use.
